MS ROBERTS BEAUTY ACADEMY SATISFACTORY ACADEMIC PROGRESS POLICY

MS ROBERTS BEAUTY ACADEMY IS NOT CURRENTLY ELIGIBLE TO PARTICIPATE IN TITLE IV FUNDING. HOWEVER, ALL STUDENTS, REGARDLESS OF PAYMENT METHOD OR CLASS SCHEDULE ARE REQUIRED TO MAINTAIN SATISFACTORY ACADEMIC PROGRESS THROUGHOUT THEIR TRAINING TO BE IN COMPLIANCE WITH INSTITUTIONAL POLICY AND TO REMAIN IN COMPLAIANCE.SATISFACTORY ACADEMIC PROGRESS IS MEASURED IN BOTH QUANTITATIVE TERMS (ATTANDANCE), AS WELL AS QUALITATIVE TERMS(ACADEMICS/ GRADES). All STUDENTS MUST MEET THE SCHOOLS ATTENDANCE STANDARD ON A CUMULATIVE BASIS (START DATE TO EVALUATION DATE) TO MAINTAIN ELIGIBILITY FOR FEDERAL STUDENT FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FUNDS UNLESS THE STUDENT IS ON “FINANCIAL AID WARNING “OR” PROBATION” AS DEFINED IN THIS POLICY.

ATTENDANCE PROGRESS COSMETOLOGY PROGRAM:

 

FULL-TIME: MAXIMUM TIME: The time frame a student has to complete to this course is 40 weeks at 37.5 hours per week. The maximum time a student has to complete the program is 60 weeks (150% of minimum). If a student does not complete the program in the maximum time frame all financial assistance will be discontinued and any balances will be the responsibility of the student. The student will be allow to continue however they will be responsible for all fees not cover by financial assistance.

ATTENDANCE: Full-time students must attend at least 25.25 hours per week(67% attendance) in order to be considered making satisfactory progress and to complete the course within the maximum time frame.

NOTE: The contracted length of the 1500 hour Cosmetology Course for students attending 371/2 hours per week is 47 weeks. This allow the student 7 weeks of absences where he or she will not be charged. However, any student not completing the course within 47 weeks will be charged $10.00 per hour of additional instruction needed to complete the hours/course

PART-TIME:                MAXIMUM TIME: The time frame a student has to complete to complete this course is 54.5 weeks at 27.5 hours per week. The maximum time a student has to complete the program is 81.75 weeks (150% of minimum). If a student does not complete the program all financial assistance with be discontinued and any balances will be the responsibility of the student. The student will be allow to continue however they will be responsible for all fees not cover by financial assistance.

ATTENDANCE: Part-time students must attend at least 18.5 hours per week (67% attendance) in order to be considered making satisfactory progress and to complete the course within the maximum time frame

NOTE: The contracted length of the 1500 hour Cosmetology course for students attending 271/2 hours per week is 61.5 weeks. This allows the student 7 weeks of absences where he or she will not be charged. However, any student not completing the course within 61.5 weeks will be charged $10.00 per hour of additional instruction needed to complete the course/hours.                                                     PAGE 1

PART-TIME: MAXIMUM TIME: The time frame student has to complete the program is 68.25 weeks based on 22 hours per week. The maximum time a student has to complete the program is 102.25 weeks (150% of minimum). If a student does not complete the program all financial assistance with be discontinued and any balances will be the responsibility of the student. The student will be allow to continue however they will be responsible for all fees not cover by financial assistance.

NIGHT TIMEATTENDANCE: Part-time students must attend at least 14.75 hours per week (67% attendance) in order to be considered making satisfactory progress and to complete the course within the maximum time frame

NOTE: The contracted length of the 1500 hour Cosmetology course for students attending 22 hours per week is 68.25 weeks. This allows the student 7 weeks of absences where he/or she will not be charged. However, any student not completing the course within 68.5 weeks will be charged $10.00 per hour of additional instruction needed to complete the course..

MAXIMUM TIME: The time frame a student has to complete this course is 91 weeks based on 16.5 hours per week. The maximum time a student has to complete the program is 136.5 weeks. (150% of minimum). If a student does not complete the program all financial assistance will be discontinued and any balances will be the responsibility. The student will be allow to continue however they will be responsible for all fees not cover by financial assistance.

ATTENDANCE: Night-time students must attend at least 11.5 hours per week (67% attendance) in order to be considered making satisfactory progress. And to complete the course within the maximum time frame.

NOTE: The contracted length a student has to complete a 1500 hour cosmetology course for attending 16.5 hours per week 98 weeks This provides the student with 7 weeks of absences for which he/she will not be charged. However, any student not completing the course within 98 weeks will be charged $10.00 per hour of additional instruction needed to complete the course.

ATTENDANCE PROGRESS COSMETOLOGY INSTRUCTORS 1000 HOUR :

 

FULL-TIME: MAXIMUM TIME: The time a student has to complete to complete this is 26.75 weeks based on 37.5 hours per week. The maximum time a student has to complete the program is 40 weeks (150% of the minimum time frame) If a student does not complete the program in the maximum time frame all financial assistance will be discontinued and any balances will be the responsibility of the student. The student will be allow to continue however they will be responsible for all fees not cover by financial assistance.

ATTENDANCE: Full-time students must attend at least 25.25 hours per week (67% attendance in order to be considered making satisfactory progress and to complete

PART-TIME: MAXIMUM TIME:: The time frame a student has to complete this course is 45.5 weeks based on 22 hours per week. The maximum time a student has to complete the program is 68.25 (150 % of minimum) weeks. If a student does not complete the program all financial assistance with be discontinued and any balances will be the responsibility of the student. The student will be allow to continue however they will be responsible for all fees not cover by financial assistance.

This provides the student with 5 weeks of absences for which he/she will not be charged. However, any student not completing the course within 50.5 weeks will be charged $10.00 per hour of additional instruction needed to complete the course.

MAXIMUM TIME:The time frame a student has to complete this course 60.75 weeks based on 16.5 hours per week) The maximum time a student has to complete the program is 91 weeks (150% of minimum). If a student does not complete the program all financial assistance will be discontinued and any balances will be the responsibility. The student will be allow to continue however they will be responsible for all fees not cover by financial assistance.

The maximum time a student has to complete the program is 20 weeks(150% of minimum time frame). If a student does not complete the program in the maximum time frame all financial assistance will be discontinued and any balances will be the responsibility of the student. The student will be allow to continue however they will be responsible for all fees not cover by financial assistance.

ATTENDANCE: Full-time students must attend at least 25.25 hours (67% attendance)per week in order to be considered making satisfactory progress and to complete the course within the maximum time frame.

NOTE: The contracted length of the 500 hour Cosmetology Instructors 500 Course for students attending 371/2 hours per week is 18.5 weeks. This provides the student with 5 weeks of absences for which he/she will not be charged. However, any student not completing the course within 18.5 weeks will be charged $10.00 per hour of additional instruction needed to complete the course.

PART-TIME: MAXIMUM TIME: The time a student has to complete is the 18.5 weeks based on 27.5hours per week The maximum time a student has to complete the program is

27.25 weeks.(150% of minimum time frames) If a student does not complete the program all financial assistance with be discontinued and any balances will be the responsibility of the student. The student will be allow to continue however they will be responsible for all fees not cover by financial assistance.

AFTERNOON

NOTE: The contracted length of the 500 hour Cosmetology Instructors course for students attending 271/2 hours per week is 23.5 weeks. This provides the student with 5 weeks of absences for which he/she will not be charged. However, any student not completing the course within 23.5 weeks will be charged $10.00 per hour of additional instruction needed to complete the course.

PART-TIME: MAXIMUM TIME:: The time frame a student has to complete is 22.75 weeks based on 22 hours per week. The maximum time a student has to complete the program is 34 weeks(150% minimum time frame). If a student does not complete the program all financial assistance with be discontinued and any balances will be the responsibility of the student. The student will be allow to continue however they will be responsible for all fees not cover by financial assistance.

The student will be allow to continue however they will be responsible for all fees not cover by financial assistance.

ATTENDANCE: Night-time students must attend at least 11 hours per week (67% attendance) in order to be considered making satisfactory progress. And to complete the course within the maximum time frame.

NOTE: The contracted length a student has to complete a 500 hour Cosmetology Instructors for attending 16.5 hours per week 35.5 weeks this provides the student with 5 weeks of absences for which he/she will not be charged. However, any student not completing the course within 35.5 weeks will be charged $10.00 per hour of additional instruction needed to complete the course.

ATTENDANCE NAIL TECHNOLOGY PROGRAM:

 

FULL-TIME: MAXIMUM TIME: The time frame a student has to complete is 9.5 weeks. The maximum time a student has to complete the program is 14 weeks.(150% of minimum time frame) If a student does not complete the program in the maximum time frame all financial assistance will be discontinued and any balances will be the responsibility of the student. The student will be allow to continue however they will be responsible for all fees not cover by financial assistance.

ATTENDANCE: Full-time students must attend at least 25.25 hours per week 67% attendance )in order to be considered making satisfactory progress and to complete the course within the maximum time frame.

NOTE: The contracted length of the 350 for students attending 371/2 hours per week is 11.5 weeks. This provides the student with 2 weeks of absences for which he/she will not be charged. However, any student not completing the course within

11.5 weeks will be charged $10.00 per hour of additional instruction needed to complete the course.

PART-TIME: AXIMUM TIME: The time frame a student has to complete is 12.75 weeks based on 27.5 hours per week The maximum time a student has to complete

This provides the student with 2 weeks of absences for which he/she will not be charged. However, any student not completing the course within 14.75 weeks will be charged $10.00 per hour of additional instruction needed to complete the course.

The maximum time a student has to complete the program is 24 weeks (150% of minimum attendance). If a student does not complete the program all financial assistance with be discontinued and any balances will be the responsibility of the student. The student will be allow to continue however they will be responsible for all fees not cover by financial assistance.

MAXIMUM TIME: The time frame time a student has to complete this course 21 weeks. The maximum time a student has to complete the program is 31.75 week (150% of time frame) If a student does not complete the program all financial assistance will be discontinued and any balances will be the responsibility. The student will be allow to continue however they will be responsible for all fees not cover by financial assistance.

ATTENDANCE: Night-time students must attend at least 11 hours per week(67% of attendance) in order to be considered making satisfactory progress. And to complete the course within the maximum time frame.

NOTE: The contract length time a student has to complete a 350 hour Nail Technology for attending 16.5 hours per week 23 weeks This provides the student with 2 weeks of absences for which he/she will not be charged. However, any student not completing the course within 23 weeks will be charged $10.00 per hour of additional instruction needed to complete the course.

16.75 weeks based on 37.5.. The maximum time a student has to complete the program is 24.75. Weeks (150% of time frame). If a student does not complete the program in the maximum time frame all financial assistance will be discontinued and any balances will be the responsibility of the student. The student will be allow to continue however they will be responsible for all fees not cover by financial assistance.

ATTENDANCE: Full-time students must attend at least 25.25 hours per week (67% attendance) in order to be considered making satisfactory progress and to complete the course within the maximum time frame.

NOTE: The contracted length of the 625 hour Nail Technology Instructors Course for students attending 371/2 hours per week is19.75 weeks. This provides the student with 3 weeks of absences for which he/she will not be charged. However, any student not completing the course within 19.75 weeks will be charged $10.00 per hour of additional instruction needed to complete the course.

PART-TIME: MAXIMUM TIME: The time frame a student has to complete is 22.75weeks.based on 27.5 hours per week The maximum time a student has to complete the program is 34 weeks. If a student does not complete the program all financial assistance with be discontinued and any balances will be the responsibility of the student.

ATTENDANCE: Part-time students must attend at least 18,75 hours per week in order to be considered making satisfactory progress and to complete the course within the maximum time frame

NOTE: The contracted length of the 625 Nail Technology Instructors course for students attending 271/2 hours per week is 25.75 weeks. This provides the student with 3 weeks of absences for which he/she will not be charged. However, any student not completing the course within 25.75weeks will be charged $10.00 per hour of additional instruction needed to complete the course.

AFTERNOON

PART-TIME: MAXIMUM TIME:: The time frame a student has to complete to complete is 28.50 weeks based on 22 hours per week.. The maximum time a student has to complete the program is 42.75 weeks (150% of time frame). If a student does not complete the program all financial assistance with be discontinued and any balances will be the responsibility of the student. The student will be allow to continue however they will be responsible for all fees not cover by financial assistance.

ATTENDANCE: Part-time students must attend at least 14.75 hours per week(67% attendance) per in order to be considered making satisfactory progress and to complete the course within the maximum time frame

NOTE: The contracted length of the 625 Nail Technology Instructors course for students attending 22 hours per week is 31.5 weeks. This provides the student with 3 weeks of absences for which he/she will not be charged. However, any student not completing the course within 31.5 weeks will be charged $10.00 per hour of additional instruction needed to complete the course.

The maximum time a student has to complete the program is 57 weeks If a student does not complete the program all financial assistance will be discontinued and any balances will be the responsibility.

ATTENDANCE: Night-time students must attend at least 11 hours per week (67% attendance) in order to be considered making satisfactory progress. And to complete the course within the maximum time frame.

NOTE: The contract length time a student has to complete a 625 hour Nail Technology Instructors for attending 16.5 hours per week 40.75 weeks this provides the student with 3 weeks of absences for which he/she will not be charged. However, any student not completing the course within 40.75 weeks will be charged $10.00 per hour of additional instruction needed to complete the course.

ACADEMIC PROGRESS

The following factors will be measured to determine academic progress: Theory work (test grades, homework, etc.)

Practical work Laboratory work

Theory work will be graded according to the following scale:

100-95 A Excellent
94-90 B Good
89-80 C Satisfactory
79-75 D Unsatisfactory
74 and below F Failing

Practical and laboratory work will be graded as follows:

5 A Excellent
4 B Good
3 C Satisfactory
2 D Unsatisfactory
1 F Failing

Students must maintain a minimum of 80% in theory work and 3 in practical/clinic work in order to be considered making satisfactory progress.

ATTENDANCE STANDARD

Students must attend at least 67% of the actual hours to attend based on the student’s enrollment agreement. A student’s attendance pace is determined by the following formula:

Cumulative clock hours of actual attendance as of the evaluations date

 
   

Cumulative clock hours of scheduled attendance as of the evaluation date

For example, a student who is enrolled for 30 clock hours per week for 20 weeks would have a cumulative scheduled attendance of 600 clock hours. If the student attended 450 of the 600 scheduled hours, his/her attendance pace would be 75.0% (450/600) and would be meeting the attendance requirements of this policy.

DETERMINATION OF PROGRESS

Evaluations of progress will be on actual time completed. They will be conducted by the Director of Education at approximately the following intervals in the program

Cosmetology                                         450, 900,1200,1500

Nail Technology Program                    116, 232 ,350,hours

Cosmetology Instructors 1000               300 600 900 and 1000

Cosmetology Instructors 500                 125,250,375, 500 hours

Nail Technology Instructor 625          200 400 625 hours

In cases where the student is not contracted for the full term of the course the first evaluation will be no later

Than the mid point of the contracted time.

Copies of the evaluations will be given to the student at each of the evaluation period. Student’s progress and attendance is tracked on the cumulative basis throughout the programs.

Satisfactory:                             Students with a minimum of 80% average in theory work and 3 in

practical/clinic work, and at least 67 % in attendance. The maximum time frame during which a student is to complete any course is 150% of published course length.

If a student is meeting or exceeding the minimum requirements in academics and attendance at the time of official evaluation, he or she shall be considered to be in SAP until the next scheduled official evaluation.

WARNING: If the student is below the minimum standards at the time of official

evaluation, he or she will be notified and placed on Financial Aid Warning until the next scheduled evaluation. During the Financial Aid Warning period a student continues to be eligible for financial aid (if applicable). Students that are determined to be below the SAP standards at the next scheduled evaluation period shall be ineligible to receive financial aid.

PROBATION:

Students who fail to meet minimum requirements for attendance or academic progress after the Warning period will be notified and placed on Probation and considered to be making satisfactory academic progress while during the probationary period, if the student appeals the decision. And prevails upon appeal. (Refer to the Appeal process below.) Additionally, only students who have the ability to meet the satisfactory Academic Progress Policy standards by the end of the next scheduled evaluation period may be placed on probation. Students placed on an academic plan must be able to meet requirements set forth in the academic plan by the end of the next scheduled evaluation period. Students who are progressing according to their academic plan will be considered making Satisfactory Academic Progress. The student will be advised in writing of the actions required to attain satisfactory academic progress by the next scheduled evaluation. If at the end of the probationary period, the student has still not met both the attendance and academic requirements required for satisfactory academic progress or by the academic plan, he/she will be determined as NOT making satisfactory academic progress and, if applicable, students will not be deemed eligible to receive Title IV, HEA program funds.

RE-ESTABLISHMENT OF STATUS

Students may re-establish satisfactory academic progress and Title IV aid, as applicable, by meeting minimum attendance and academic requirements by the end of the probationary period.

APPEAL PROCESS

All students have a right to appeal a negative determination.

Students who are terminated after failing to achieve minimum requirements may appeal this determination. The student must submit a written appeal within 10 days of the determination of unsatisfactory progress to the Director of Education. Examples of reasons for which a student may appeal are death of a relative, an injury or illness to the student loss of employment. The students appeal must document the unusual or mitigating circumstances that caused the student to fail to meet the institutions standards as well provide information regarding what conditions have changed that would demonstrate that the student could regain satisfactory academic progress standards during the probationary period. . The institution will review the students appeal and related documentation within 5 days of receipt of the written appeal and its resulting decision will be final.

In the event the student submits a successful appeal and is granted probation, federal student aid eligibility will be reinstated for the subsequent payment period only. Determination and supportive documents will be kept in the students file.

LEAVES OF ABSENCE

The Director must approve all request for leave of absence. All request must be in submitted in advance in writing to the Director. No verbal request will be accepted unless a unforeseen circumstance prevent the student from complying with the policy.

  1. A student can only take 2 leaves inside of a contract,
  2. May not exceed 180 combined days in a12 month period
  3. May not be less than 2

An equal amount of days taken will be added to extend students the contract and maximum time fame by the same number of days taken in the leave of absence

A student returning from leave withdrawal or other official interruption of training must return to school I the same satisfactory progress as prior to their departure.

If a student does not return from a leave of absence at the agreed upon date the last day of attendance will be considered the withdrawal date.

TRANSFER HOURS

Transfer hours that our accepted by the school are counted as both attempted and completed hours for the purpose of determining when the allowable maximum timeframe has been exhausted. SAP evaluations are then based on actual contracted hours at the institutions.

WITHDRAWALS/COURSE INCOMPLETE  

Any student who withdraws from his/her contracted course or fails to complete his/her training will have notice placed in his/her student file as to progress at point of withdrawal.

REPETITION  

A student returning from withdrawal or other official interruption of training must return to school I the same satisfactory progress as prior to their departure.

A student making satisfactory progress at the point of withdrawal may apply for re-enrollment in the school and will be considered to be making satisfactory progress at the point of re-entry.A student failing to meet minimum satisfactory requirements at the point of withdrawal, upon rere entry will beremain at that status until the next evaluation period where they will be reevaluated..

Non-credit incompletes, repetitions and remedial courses have no effect upon a student’s satisfactory progress status in this school.

Ms Roberts Beauty Academy will charge a registration fee of a $175.00 for students transferring in or re-entry of more than 30 days after withdrawal. The tuition rates current at the time of re-entry will apply to the balance of training hours needed for students who re-enroll more than 30 days after the formal withdrawal date unless mitigating circumstance apply.

A copy of the progress report will be given to the student and maintain in file for future reference
